Morphology: Perennial herb, with white ovoid rhizome; fibrous roots inflated at the end forming a fusiform root tuber. Basal leaves elliptic-lanceolate, 14-39 X 4.5-7 cm, pubescent both surfaces. Spike sprouted from rhizome; lips rotund, pale yellow, 3-lobed at apex; the middle lobe slightly longer than others and 2-lobed at apex; ovary villous.

Distribution: Guangxi and Yunnan; wild or cultivated.

Uses: Curcumol isolated from the rhizome is effective for the treatment of carcinoma of cervix.
